Starting early in September we had a guest from Autommatic talking about using AI in the WordPress dashboard. Autommatic is the company behind WordPress, Woocommerce, Gravitar, and many other useful tools.
Karen primarily talked about how to use AI if you’re using wordpress.com as your hosting company, so we’ve invited her back for a session in early October to talk about how this all works with self hosted websites. That’s happening on Oct. 7.

On Sept 23 we’ll have an Introduction to WordPress class. This will teach you basic WordPress structure, how to get around in the block editor, how use the Full Site editor with a block theme, and some common conceptual problems when getting started. We’ll work primarily with core WordPress on a simple brochure and portfolio website. We’ll look at where to find tools to add to WordPress and how to easily change your look and feel. We start at the beginning and build up your knowledge.
If you’re looking for some tips and tricks on basic computer use there will be a class in Basic Computer Proficiency on Oct 14. This class will start at the beginning and move into email, browsers, and staying safe on the Internet. Please bring a laptop and questions. Please RSVP so we know how many to expect.
Tech Meetups around town
Other events happening around town in tech fields: New Mexico Tech Council’s Tech Summit is Sept 24th. The Albuquerque Software Social Club has a monthly Social meetup to get to know other people working in tech fields. That’s happening Sept 18th.
