Do you believe in Magic??

There is really only one important choice in life - whether or not you believe in magic. It’s not really a conscious choice. Sometimes it chooses you. Or, maybe it’s how you perceive your experiences – your perspective. Whether you only deal in the tangible or if you are open to the mystical and mysterious. These things surround us all the time, but are often much harder to identify; subtle things, things that can easily go unnoticed in our ordinary day-to-day living, unless you pay close attention.

But, some magical things are so powerful that they force their way into recognition – like falling in love, or the awe-inspiring beauty of nature. The ocean, a waterfall, majestic snow-capped mountains, a perfect rose or the birth of a baby -- these things, through their shear power or beauty, cause us to stop for a moment and realize there is magic in our lives. It’s become cliché, but true – magic is all around us, if we look. What about the other extreme -- can there be too much magic? People who become overly obsessed with unseen forces and mystical matters are seen as crazy, out of touch with reality.

Niki Perceval was faced with that predicament. Something powerful had forced it’s way into her reality. Something she simply could not ignore. She wasn’t crazy because she was aware of her situation. Psychologists say if you’re questioning your circumstances and what’s happening to you, then you’re still sane – or something like that. Niki had questioned everything, used all her analytical reporter skills to try and separate fact from fantasy, but in the end there was no denying that something incredible – something magical -- had happened.

Now, it was just a matter of telling the story. She promised that she would, but it was so much harder than she imagined. Where do you start with something so unusual and complicated? The only place you can is at the beginning, right? And, for Niki that was the Grand Alignment.

The world was supposed to end March 10, 1982… obviously it didn’t.

Niki glanced at her watch. It was 10 pm, or a minute after. She flipped on the TV just in time to catch the now-famous English astrophysicist Dr. John Gribbin surrounded by photographers, microphones and a crush of reporters. "What is this?" Niki thought, as a deep crease formed in her smooth freckled forehead. Press conference? She didn’t know anything about an announcement today. But, there he was, beamed in live via the BBC, with light bulbs flashing in his face. There must be some breaking development with the planetary alignment -- some good reason he didn’t have time to call and tip her off, she thought, something really hot. "And, I almost missed it," she gasped aloud falling back onto the sofa.

(that’s just a taste… the real thing is still in the works!)
