James Quinn Memorial Ride, Saturday, October 4, 1000am

JAMES QUINN Memorial Ride

Students at UNM School of Law are planning a one-year anniversary ride in memory of classmate, James Quinn, who was killed last year in Tijeras Canyon. Ride will take place on Sat., Oct.
4, starting at 10 am from the UNM School of Law parking lot and taking the same route as the first memorial ride.
Anyone who wants to join at the Smith's parking lot can do so at 11 am. We plan to stop and reflect briefly at the crash site and anyone who wants to meet us there via car is welcome.

Any input is welcome. At this point we think it will be a fairly informal, slow-paced, no-drop ride. If we get word there will be a large number of participants we may
seek escorts, other formalities.

Contact Erin McSherry with any questions or concerns at erinmcsherry@gmail.com or mcsherer@law.unm.edu.

Otero Canyon Military Withdrawal Boundaries Still in Effect

Posted July 25, 2007

Recent newspaper articles have led some hikers/bikers to believe that DOE/Kirtland officials have relaxed their regulations regarding the Military Withdrawal boundaries. Be advised that the boundaries are still intact and the signs posted along the boundaries provide up-to-date information.

A decision has been made (by the military officials currently in command) to not construct a fence, but again, boundaries are intact, and safety and liability issues continue to be a concern.

Negotiations are in progress with the Forest Service to determine if a portion of the withdrawal can be returned to the Forest Service, but no decisions have been made. Military officials continue to patrol the area and will cite trespassers who violate the regulations as posted on the signs.
