Founded in 1880, we are one of the oldest Protestant congregations in New Mexico, but we are anything but old!

We are a congregation on the move!

Our membership is growing, our worship is vibrant, our community outreach and ministry are vital.

We are excited about our future and we hope you will be, too.

Our church bulding is now in use almost 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We host three major concert groups, (The New Mexico Women's Chorus, the Gay Men's Chorus and Southwest Opera). Our most exciting new venture is our ministry to homeless women and children, which will invlove providing overnight shelter, shower and laundry facilities and tutoring for the children.

First Church has a long history of community involvement, which continues to this day. We are active with the New Mexico Conference of Churches, the New Mexico Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, the Albuquerque interfaith, the New Mexico Coalition to Repeal the Death Penalty, New Mexicans for Campaign Finance Reform and a number of other ecumenical and interfaith organizations. As an Open and Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ, we seek to embody Christ's radical hospitality in our relationship to the GLBT community and to provide a place of welcome and sanctuary for all, regardless of sexual orientation.
