I have worked for over 25 years in the nonprofit sector (including work with Universities, labor unions, and foundations) as a Director, staff member, Board or committee member. My own experience working at all levels of organizations (including entry-level, middle manager, senior manager and Executive Director) helps me bring an integrated perspective to my work with organizations and groups. I am particularly interested in small and medium-sized nonprofits, and those with a social justice mission. I prefer to take a capacity-building approach to working with organizations so that staff and Board skills and knowledge are developed as we work together.
I provide a broad range of services:
- Strategic thinking and planning (including any kind of "sorting out" and "clarifying" an organization needs to do)
- Meeting and retreat facilitation
- Program development and evaluation
- Planning new or special initiatives (including grassroots campaigns, coalition work, new programs, etc.)
- Fundraising (particularly proposal writing; also development of fundraising strategy)
- Qualitative research (including community needs assessment through methods such as focus groups and surveys)
- Curriculum development and training
- Writing projects (report writing, concept papers, policy analysis)
In Albuquerque, the organizations I have worked with include New Mexico Advocates for Children and Families; the American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico; the YWCA; American Lung Association; Southwest Creations Collaborative and the Department of Children, Youth and Families (City of Albuquerque). Nationally, I have worked with a number of organizations and foundations, including the National Healthcare for the Homeless Council; the Ms. Foundation for Women; the Boston Women's Fund; the Proteus Fund; and the Boston Foundation.
