SANDIA FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2007 GRANTS FROM THE HUGH AND HELEN WOODWARD FUND AT ALBUQUERQE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
In 2006 the Sandia Foundation engaged the services of the Albuquerque Community Foundation to administer its annual grant award program. “The Community Foundation’s grantmaking expertise will simplify the process of grant awards from the Hugh and Helen Woodward Fund,” said Patrick Glennon, Executive Director of the Sandia Foundation. “Sandia Foundation’s Trustees will continue to review and recommend grant recipients, the ACF will organize and perform required due diligence.”
In 2007 the Hugh and Helen Woodward Fund awarded 27 grants to Albuquerque nonprofit organizations totaling $302,000. The grants included funding for programs providing direct services to those who are homeless or at-risk to be homeless; for an arts education after school program; public policy work to improve access to healthcare; and for programs to benefit the elderly. The Sandia Foundation was established in 1948 by Hugh and Helen Woodward to support the University of New Mexico, Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennslyvania, and Albuquerque charities. Since its inception the fund has awarded over $55 million.
