Environmental and Historic Preservation

Grants in this field help to preserve historic resources, conserve the
natural land, protect wildlife, and provide environmental education programs.

Cornerstones Community Partnership
to support programs for youth at the Gutierrez-Hubbell House in the South Valley including classroom instruction & on-the-job technical training in using traditional building materials, $8,000

Hawks Aloft
to support the Cavity Nesting Birds Conservation Education Program for 4th-8th grade classrooms with multiple visits & cavity nesting box installation at each school, $3,600

Tree New Mexico
to support tree planting & revitalization projects in the South Broadway neighborhood, $5,000
  

Albuquerque Tree Initiative
to plant trees in parks, neighborhoods, schools & greenspaces across the city & in the Bosque as part of the TreeCentennial Program, $5,000

HawkWatch International, Inc.
to support field education sites in the Sandia & Manzano Mountains for raptor research & monitoring including classroom & community outreach education, $5,000

Education

In the field of education, grants support a wide range of activities from early childhood through adult programs including special needs, enrichment and literacy projects, parent and volunteer involvement, and vocational and career training.

Barrett Foundation
to provide computer training and other services for clients at an emergency shelter for the most vulnerable homeless women & children, $5,000

Catholic Charities
to assist adults in obtaining English speaking, reading & writing skills in conjunction with an open computer lab, $8,700

Direct Action for Youth Foundation
to provide tutorial instruction at APS, Marie Hughes Elementary School to students working below grade level but not qualified for special education, $10,000

Explora Science Center
to recruit, train & employ at-risk high school students to teach science, technology & art education to elementary & middle school children, $5,000

New Mexico Common Cause
to support the Model City Council program for APS high school students with a four-week curriculum including first hand experience with the Albuquerque City Council, $5,000

New Mexico Holocaust & Intolerance Museum
to support exhibit purchase costs from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum & Yad Vashem Museum in Israel to enlarge the Wall of Righteous permanent exhibit and add materials for the Bataan Death March exhibit, $6,000

TVI Foundation
to strengthen the GED Outreach Program for incarcerated women, $9,997

ACCION New Mexico
to support financial literacy training & leadership development for entrepreneurs, $10,000

TVI Foundation
to support TAX Help New Mexico, a volunteer income tax assistance program for low-income & elderly residents in the South Valley, $5,760

Grants in this area are given to support arts education, facilitate the stability of arts organizations, and to encourage the preservation of the community’s cultural heritage.

Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program
to support Bach to Basics, a summer music camp for middle school students to teach musicianship & performing ability, $5,000

Art in the School, Inc.
to support professional development workshops for novice elementary school teachers by engaging them in innovative & creative methods of visual arts integration, $5,000

Escuela del Sol Montessori School
to support the Harwood Center After-School Art Program at the Wells Park & Barelas Community Centers as well as the Carnuel Parade & Fiesta in the Sawmill & Wells Park neighborhoods, $8,000

National Dance Institute of New Mexico
to support a full-year, in-the-school dance program at an APS Elementary school for lasting academic & personal development in children, $10,000

National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation
to support fees for artists & performers for the Student Arts Education Program for students pre-K to high school, $8,000

New Mexico Symphony Orchestra
to suppport the Fifth Grade Initiative providing all fifth grade students the opportunity to hear a full-orchestra live concert at Popejoy Hall for a total of 7,600 students, $10,000

Once Upon A Theatre
to support touring company presentations of live theater performances in elementary & middle schools, $5,000

Readymade Dance Theater Co.
to support "From Seed to Supper," a dance & theater project demonstrating the interdependence of nature, science, art & culture in collaboration with Rio Grande Community Farms & Albuquerque Open Space, $4,800

Senior Arts, Inc.
to support the International Dance Performance Series at senior centers throughout Albuquerque, $4,500

Human Services

Grants in the field of human services provide support for improving the quality of life for those in need by strengthening families, assisting the chronically poor, providing for the basic needs, and aiding people in transition.

Albuquerque Homeless Advocacy Coalition, Inc.
to support & improve the APD-Homeless-Community Relations Project to improve relations between people experiencing homelessness, service providers, advocates & the general community, $10,000

Albuquerque Opportunity Center
to support the only non-faith based facility for homeless adult males, $10,000

Community Renovation Empowering Women (CREW)
to purchase a full size pick-up truck to transport building materials & equipment to work sites for volunteers building & renovating structures for agencies serving women & children, $7,500

Los Reyes de Alburquerque Foundation
to support the Museum Enchancement Program for performances of traditional nuevomexicano music & preserve the culture of northern New Mexico for groups of disadvantaged children and seniors, $5,000

Outside In
to support live music & performing arts presentations for people in shelters, nursing homes, treatment facilities, correctional institutions & other human services programs in Albuquerque, $5,000

The Storehouse
to support a program for homebound people living at or below poverty level by providing a volunteer free food delivery service, $4,500

APS Title I, Homeless Projects
to support Links to Literacy Program, an afterschool tutoring program for more than 2,500 homeless students, $15,000

The Crossroads
to provide basic literacy tutoring, computer, job skills & GED programming for homeless women with co-occurring mental & additive disorders who are actively working towards self-sufficiency, $17,000

Dismas House
to support start-up costs for an additional transitional home for men coming out of prison, $15,000

Rio Grande Food Project
to support food purchases for emergency food boxes providing for people experiencing difficult times, $5,000

Hands on Ministries
to assist with basic home repairs and nonprofit organizations with repair & construction projects such as a playground, $10,000

Planned Parenthood of New Mexico
to support the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program, $10,000

Grants in this field-of-interest support direct services or prevention programs benefiting children, with an emphasis on projects for children who are abused and neglected, homeless or economically disadvantaged, and those programs nurturing families.

Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless
to support art therapy & studio mentor honoraria for children’s outreach at ArtStreet, a part of family health services, $10,000

La Familia Placement Services
to support the Foster Family Living Training program to prepare youth for success after emancipation, $4,700

PB&J Family Services, Inc.
to support counseling groups in two South Valley schools for children of prisoners & children from families with a history of criminaltiy seeking to break the intergenerational cycle of incarcertaion among these at-risk groups, $6,000

YMCA Albuquerque
to support Fade II Reality, a therapeutic, video based, intervention & prevention program for middle school youth, $3,500

Southwest Creations Collaborative
to support the Family Leadership Program helping women with children in APS receive education & resources to face challenges as Spanish-speaking immigrants, $8,000

Roadrunner Food Bank
to provide Food for Kids with supplemental food for 2,100 children a week through APS Title One elementary schools, $5,900

APS Health & Mental Health Services
to support Mediation in the Schools violence prevention effort including Student Recognition Rally & retreat for mediation staff & volunteers, $1,500

Keshet Dance Company
to support outreach dance program for incarcerated teens assisting them with academics & facilitating social skill development, $3,500

PB&J Family Services, Inc.
to support counseling groups in two South Valley schools for children of prisoners & children from families with a history of criminaltiy seeking to break the intergenerational cycle of incarcertaion among these at-risk groups, $5,000

to support program to teach families how to recognize & manage the stress leading to improved decision-making and healthier relationships, $6,780

to enable severely impaired & disabled people with chronic deteriorating neuromuscular diseases to receive psychological counseling services, $6,800

Agora Crisis Center
to continue outreach program of presentations & distribution of materials about issues of suicide & depression to social organizations working with the elderly, $5,300

Amigos de Las Americas
to support on-going youth volunteer training program for a health education project in the Southeast Heights & a Habitat for Humanities construction project, $4,000

HOME - New Mexico
to support housing counseling services for low-income people with disabilities enabling them to live independently through homeownership, $9,600

New Mexico Center on Law & Poverty, Inc.
to provide legal staff for a project to improve the indigent healthcare program at UNM Hospital, specifically medical translation & interpretation services for patients with limited English proficiency, $10,000

St. Martin's Hospitality Center
to assist homeless clients attaining self-sufficiency with bus passes, employment support, housing assistance & medication maintenance, $5,000

UNM Center for Development & Disability
to support the special collection library of resource & research materials about disabilities, $1,500

VSA arts of New Mexico
to support new program offering art classes, therapies & activities for people with mental illness, $5,300

Angel Flight West
to support volunteer pilot recruitment & training, materials for outreach to healthcare providers, clinics, agencies, $5,000

New Mexico Autism Society
to develop & disseminate educational packets about autism spectrum disorders to pediatricians & family practitioners, $10,000

New Mexico Cancer Care Alliance
to support patient education & recognition program by opening cancer clinical trials offered by government agencies & private sponsors, $10,000
