Traditional Sailing Craft Scale Models

Schooners, Skipjacks, Scale Boats, and Other Types

Early Woodcut of Model Schooner (44K GIF)

Model sailing boats that have at least approximated larger vessels, such as schooners, skipjacks, and other types, have intrigued people of all ages for generations. Enough R/C model schooners and skipjacks showed up at the 1996 VMYG Regatta to prompt the development of the Traditional Sailing Craft Scale Models division. We have developed rules for our R/C schooner construction and on-the-water race course and display competition. Our first schooner competition occurred at our 1997 Regatta at Redd's Pond, Marblehead, MA., and we've held one every year since.
