Twenty of the Four Foot Six class boats, most of them restored by Euan Sarginson, await their skippers.
The brass band is a Christchurch MYC tradition from the earliest days. We were serenaded gracefully throughout the afternoon.
A proper race starts with a proper cannon. (Earl Boebert photo.)
The boats are lead to the "Jubilee Quay" for the start.
The skippers try and remember what Malcolm Scott had to say about trimming these boats. (Hint: not enough of them did).
The boats arrayed at the start; a stirring vintage scene.
The cannon a) signals the start and b) clears the ducks off the lake.
