The Primary account holder is responsible for the account. Only the primary
account owner can make billing changes, request new services or receive
password information.
Why so strict?
We've had divorced wives cancel their husband's accounts; divorced husbands
demand to read their wife's email; disgruntled employees try to cancel
their employer's web services, etc.
Our policies are to protect you.
Can I designate someone else to make changes?
Sure. You can have anyone you authorize make changes for you, but you need to
tell us in writing that you want to do this. Our mechanism for alternative
account management is the Technical Contact. You can specify a technical
contact that is authorized to make any changes, or you can restrict this
person to certain types of changes. For example, a company may hire a web
designer and set up a secondary account for them. They want to delegate
web design issues to this person, but not full control of the account.
Secondary accounts
A secondary account holder doesn't have any special privileges regarding the
account. The account is always owned by the primary account holder. One common
type of account delegation is to specify a secondary account holder as a
technical contact with authority to make changes to their account only.
But I own the company
Selecting the account owner and technical contacts is a important decision.
We consider whoever has signed the SWCP contract to be the account owner.
If the account should be owned by the company, be sure and check the
"Corporate Account" check box on the sign-up form. This will make changing
account owners easier.
