Committees

Much of the work done by the New Mexico Medical Society is through its committees that are appointed each year by the incoming president.  We'd welcome your interest and participation!

Below is a list of the committees to consider serving on.  Please check the box next to your selection(s) and indicate if you are interested in serving on the committee(s), or if you are currently serving and wish to remain or be taken off.  You may either download this form and fax to Clare Thompson at (505)828-0336 or complete it online and e-mail to her at cthompson@nmms.org.

CHILDREN'S MEDICAL SERVICES
Serves as advisory committee to the New Mexico Department of Health on Children's Medical Services.		 MEDICAL-LEGAL PANEL
Attends medical-legal hearings, Monday through Thursday evenings. Mileage is paid for out of Albuquerque panelists.
CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS
Studies proposed amendments to the Society's constitution and bylaws before going to the House of Delegates.		 NEW MEXICO MEDICAL HISTORY
Monitors physician and medical history in New Mexico and provides guidance and assistance to the UNM Health Sciences Center Library.
CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION
Accredits sponsors for clinical programs.		 PROFESSIONAL REVIEW AND ADVOCACY
Reviews disputes with and advises the state Medicare carrier.
LIAISON TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
Advises state government on public health matters.		 PUBLIC RELATIONS
Prepares NMMS' publications and coordinates activities.
LIAISON TO THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Meets with HSD and acts in advisory capacity concerning Medicaid.		 LIAISON TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Meets with UNM SOM staff to discuss matters regarding programs in the best interest of the medical community.
NEW MEXICO MEDICAL HISTORY
Monitors physician and medical history in New Mexico and provides guidance and assistance to the UNM Health Sciences Center Library.		 MANAGED CARE EXTERNAL QUALITY REVIEW PANEL
Considers appeals under Patient Protection Act which need medical judgment.
