Training Sponsored by the New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault
Programs (NMCSAP)
The Coalition provides training on a variety of sexual abuse topics designed
to improve a community's response to victims and offenders of sexual abuse.
These topics include:
- New Mexico and Federal Sex Crimes Statutes
- Duty To Report
- Identifying, Reporting, and Handling Disclosures of Child Sexual Abuse
- Investigation of Sexual Abuse Reports
- Assessment and Treatment of Adolescent and Adult Sex Offenders
- Treatment of Adult Survivors of Rape and Child Sexual Abuse
- Medical Treatment and Evaluations of Sexually Abused Children and Adults
- Multidisciplinary Team Approaches to Child Sexual Abuse Cases
- Cultural Issues Regarding The Prevention/Treatment of Sexual Abuse
- Expert Witness Testimony
- Other Relevant Topics
Training Recipients include any group of fifteen or more within the State of New
Mexico. This may include, but is not limited to: school, medical, law enforcement,
judicial, social services, and mental health professionals as well as to interested
community members. Where possible, the sexual abuse program coordinators are contacted
by the Coalition to assist with the provision of the training. However, any agency,
community group, or concerned professional may contact the Coalition to set up
a training in their area and assist as a co-sponsor. The Coalition provides the
speakers, flyers (with agendas) to advertise the training, and folders of appropriate
handouts for each training. The co-sponsor distributes the flyers and provides
any required audio-visual equipment and refreshments. Most trainings are free
of charge, with the exception of occasional statewide conferences or other specific
conferences which feature out-of-state experts.
