Material Transport
Material transport modelling involves the simultaneous solution of the Navier Stokes equations along with a material transport equation. Debris transport through a complex geometry is shown in this example. The Second example is a fire on a laboratory bench. Toxic aerosols of different sizes (colored by mean diameter) are released from the fire and transported via the thermal plume from the fire and the room ventilation. The third example here (a larger file which may take some time to download) shows the concentration contours of a pharmaceutical in an asthma inhaler. Three stages are shown, injection of the volatile solvent plus pharmaceutical, a vaporization phase where the solvent evaporates and a final purge phase where air displaces the final aerosol.
