| Publishing Your Site with Microsoft Frontpage 2002 |
|
While our webfarm servers do not have Frontpage Extensions installed, it is possible to publish a site created with Microsoft FrontPage via FTP. For relatively simple websites, this can be an easy way to manage your own content without having to write any HTML.
FrontPage 2002
"How do I turn off Front-Page Extensions?" This is most likely the most important step in using Front-Page on the SWCP Web-Farm. This should also be the first step in editing, or designing your sites. To do this:
On the Tools menu, click Page Options
Click the Compatibility tab: Clear the Enabled with Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions check box:
Clear the Enabled with Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions check box.
"How do I upload and download the pages? Before we begin, please note: ANY fields that show <username> or <domainname.com> need to be replaced with your actual username, or domain name Remove the < > brackets. These are only shown for documenting purposes
Setting up your Microsoft Frontpage 2002 to work with
FTP
If you are connecting with Frontpage 2002 for the first time, please click "Import".
Browse and enter in the directory (folder) on your computer that your Web work is located and click "Next".
It now will show you list of all the files in that folder, click "Next".
Wow look at that we're done! Click "Finish".
After entering the past settings click "file" and then "Publish Web".
It will then ask where you would like to publish it to. Enter in your full FTP path and click "OK". For most SWCP/NMIA users: the path will look something like this: ftp.swcp.com/users/<username>/public_html/<domainname.com> If you have more then one site, that you're hosting with us, change the folder AFTER | /public_html/ | to whatever your other domain is. --------- If you're only uploading to a subfolder, of your website: ftp.swcp.com/users/<username>/public_html/<domainname.com>/<subfolder> -------- If you're going to publish to your personal webpage: ftp.swcp.com/users/<username>/public_html/ This will upload to a folder that's accessed via http://www.swcp.com/~<username> - and not your actual website. Please remember that your Website name will now become your FTP server name.
You will finally be asked about your username and password. Please refer to you Account datasheet for this info. You can also call us to get this information: 505-232-7992 Please also remember: if this is your primary account, you'll have a <Pusername> and a <username> on your datasheet. You'll need to use the <username>. Not the P<username>.
You'll notice that your data sheet has 2 logins: one witha P at the beginning, and one with out. You must use your login that does NOT have the P at the begining. If you don't have your data sheet, give us a call: 505-232-7992, and we can provide you with your login information. That's it! *Any pages found in your sites folder, will be made available to you, to either remove, add, or ignore, by FrontPage. Please use caution when clicking these popup's- as removing the files, WILL REMOVE THE FILE FROM OUR SERVERS AND YOUR WEBSITE*
