The Last Temptation by Neil Gaiman & Michael Zulli Published by Dark Horse Comics, 2000 Amazon.co.uk: paperback Amazon.ca: paperback Amazon.com: paperback ChristianBook.com: paperback Recommended by: Ross Pavlac |
There is also a companion comic book trilogy from Marvel, available individually or in a single volume. And yes, Alice Cooper is now a Christian! Miracles do happen! Other Comments: This volume collects a graphic novel originally published in three parts in the mid-90s, together with some end notes by Neil Gaiman, who wrote the story. (Michael Zulli did the artwork.) The graphic novel was written to accompany Alice Cooper's concept album of the same title. The plot is basically a retelling of the story of Faust, with a few twists. I find it interesting because of what seems to be a common thread in American popular culture: the obsession, on the part of young people living in a small town, of getting away to the big, exciting city, as if boredom were "a fate worse then death." (This is balanced out by a craving, on the part of those who do live in the big cities, to get away to a small town where life isn't so frenzied. All of which goes to show how "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.") — Greg Slade (October, 2004) | |
