Book 1 of the Angelwalk trilogy.

I was profoundly disappointed by this book. The blurbs on the cover built it up as the greatest thing since C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters, but in fact, it falls woefully short, even more short than Don Hawkins' flambeau@darkcorp.com. Just as in Hawkins' work, Elwood fails to get inside the head of the sinners he condemns, and so this work lacks the power of Lewis' work, because instead of an intensely personal confession, it is a barely-disguised accusation. (I would say "thinly disguised", except that in several places, it's not disguised at all. Several times, the voice of Darien, the protagonist, is completely obliterated by the voice of the 20th century American evangelical writing the book.) – Greg Slade (March, 2003)
