Ken Scott and Chris Allen-Wickler
We are self taught animators, the founders and co-directors of the non-profit The Art Place, more afffectionately known as TAP, in Suttons Bay, Michigan.
In 2001, Ken offered Animation Club after school to EL/MS kids and Chris began to assist him in 2003. In 2004, the First Annual Suttons Bay Film Festival premiered to showcase movies made by K -12 grades students nationally.
We teach animation workshops for kids and adults at TAP and regional schools including residencies at the East Jordan Art Center and the 2005 East Lansing Children's Film Festival. In the spirit of self-taughtness, we are most interested in guiding folks to make hand made movies through drawing, clay, paper cutouts and collage, and object animation. We continue to collaborate on community-wide movie projects including: 'An Animated Timeline: Suttons Bay Sesquicenttenial' and 'Mrs. McGinty'.
Ken is a self taught photographer with five books about northern Michigan to his credit and Chris has a Master of Fine Arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art and holds a BFA from the University of Minnesota.
