José M. Caparrós Lera and Rafael de España at the FIEALC conference in Moscow Professors José M. Caparrós Lera and Rafael de España participated as coordinator and presenter, respectively, in the X Congress of the International Federation of Latin American and Caribbean Studies (Federación Internacional de Estudios de América Latina y el Caribe--FIEALC), held in Moscow, Russia, on June 25-29, 2001. Representing the Centre d'Investigacions Film-Història (Parc Cientific de la Universitat de Barcelona), Dr. Caparrós Lera moderated the symposium on "Cinema, the Fifth Power. The Influence of the Soviet School on the New Latin American Cinema." Dr. Rafael de España spoke on "Mikheil Kalatozishvili and the Film Soy Cuba (1964)." Also participating were scholars from Mexico, Argentina, Spain, and Israel. This tenth international conference was organized by the Institute of Latin America (ILA) and was held in the Academy of Sciences in Moscow. The next conference will be held in 2003 in Tokyo.
